Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Will the R-Light work with my Windows DAW?
A: No. Currently the R-Light will only work with DAWs that run on Mac OS X. There are plans for a Windows driver as well.
Q: When I go to pair my R-Light with my computer, it asks for a PIN. What's my PIN?
A: The PIN is the serial number printed on the sticker on the bottom of your R-Light.
Q: How many R-Lights can I use with my DAW at the same time?
A: The Bluetooth specification limits 7 devices on one piconet or PAN (Personal Area Network). So this is the current limit. Remember, if you have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, those count in the 7 devices. If you require more R-Lights on one system, please contact us and we can help you out.
Q: What is the range of the R-Light's wireless connectivity?
A: The R-Light is a Class 2 Bluetooth device. This means that it has a maximum range of about 50 to 60 feet. The number of walls (and their design) between the R-Light and the DAW will affect the wireless signal strength. The Bluetooth transceiver within the R-Light is a FCC and Bluetooth SIG certified device. If longer range is required, please contact us and we can help you out.
Q: Are there any lightbulbs to replace?
A: Nope! The R-Light uses LEDs that are rated at 11,000 hours of use, which should last you pretty much forever .
Q: How is the R-Light powered?
A: The R-Light uses a 9VDC wall-wart power adapter.
Q: I want my R-Light to say something other than "RECORDING" on the acrylic. Is this possible?
A: Custom acrylics are available upon request (for additional charge). Please contact us and we can help you out.
Q: Do I have to periodically check your website to see if a new version of the driver is available?
A: No. As long as your computer has an internet connection, the driver will periodically check to see if a new version is available. If so, it'll download it and install it automatically.
